Shaun Alexander: Draft Day 2000 Shaun Alexander was born August 30, 1977 in Florence, Kentucky. Since he started playing the game of football, it was obvious he would be a great player. Not only did Alexander have all the physical skills required to be a great running back in NFL, but his will to win is not offset by much. With these two things combined, it is easy to see why Alexander has established himself as one of the greatest running backs of all time.
During his senior year in high school, Alexander was named "Mr. Football" in the state of Kentucky. Each year this award recognizes the best player in the state, and Alexander certainly deserved this.
After a brilliant high school career, Alexander has accepted a scholarship offer to play football at the University of Alabama. He wasted no time showing how good it was. In the first year he has implemented many, including a match where he ran for 291 yards. Alexander has more of the same during his second year and junior seasons, which in turn led him to declare himself eligible for the 2000 Entry Draft in the NFL.
The Seattle Seahawks select Alexander resumed 19th overall draft pick in the 2000 NFL. While other teams passed on his services, Alexander was ready to show them everything they have missed out on. Although he played in all 16 games in his rookie season, it was not until 2001 when he really started to take the league by storm.
Alexander has been named to the team of the NFL Pro Bowl three times, and has won many awards since he joined the other league.
With so many good years under his belt already, if Shaun Alexander can take this pace, it will go down in history as one of the best halves of each contact on the field!
