Dog Socks

Dog SocksWhy does my dog carry around socks when it is excited?

Whenever we are about to go outside to go "pot" or whether we are about to take a walk. My hunting dog and he wears a sock in his mouth. It is never strong on the sock, it is just and free when I retire. Does anyone know why she does this?

My Chi does this all the time with our socks.I think their attracted by the smell and the sweat and salt on our skin and they lick socks.

She wants to play tug of war with you and a sock is a good toy to do with.

LOL dogs just go crazy when they are excited! Mine will run in and out from under the table

It's just something the dogs. Your dog must love socks. (Every time I get excited, I jumped on my bed and I LOVE to jump on your orders). For dogs, it's the same thing

I'm not 100% sure but I have a theory that it is a kind of "oral fixation" that the dogs when they are excited. It helps them adjust. :) My older boxer will do, usually when we go somewhere - as soon as we walk through the door, she gets mad and picks up everything that happens to be closer to her. Usually, it's a toy or a bone, but sometimes it's a sock or a shoe or something else. When she does not find something to put in her mouth, she becomes mad - jumps, whines and yips / barks almost uncontrollable. But when she has something in her mouth, she just sort of whistling (he mumbles:)) and rhythms with her. I guess she has learned to do that because we were less happy with their exuberant greetings in the past, and she realized that something in his mouth to help control his excitement.

BTW, I also know several other dogs that do the same thing. :)

Who knows why your dog has chosen a sock ... Maybe it is just your smell comforting.

My dog does the same thing when I use only clean her stuffed toy lamb. Sometimes even pick up this toy and walk around the house to make whistles. It usually occurs after it is completed on his stick to chew on rawhide chew. We call it the dance Lamby. When he was a puppy, he brought that same toy in his mouth on one foot half mile! We did not understand why he does it, but as there are now four and a half years, I guess it will do for the rest of his life. We just enjoy all his antics soon! If I let him take the toys away, he goes to his grave a business to explore the yard. When he is ready to go, I told him to take his Lamby and he usually will pick it up and put in.

LOL! Most dogs have something weird little they do. I have two dogs, a pit bull that mutt will pick up his favorite toy and bark with it in his mouth when excited or upset. Then, as he lay quiet and keep his "baby" in his legs and Defla the "baby" until he calms down.

The mixture of chihuahua will run like a nut and will continue, and spin in circles where he is passionate. If he is really excited and want something really badly, he will flee what he wants. Once he got so excited when he was playing on my bed. I bagged a new deal and began to turn, as usual, and then he ran backwards and ran straight to the bed. LOL .. he was so frightened by the fall, he has forgotten all about the treats poor baby!

HAHA I thought that my chihuahua was weird. She does it too. Good to know mine is not the stupidest dog ever.

ewww lol

hahaha mine does the same thing! i love it
