Fire Dept Uniforms Where is the location for the service strips on a fire dept uniform? I'm not positive about this but I think they are on the left arm near the shoulder. I think there is a yellow and one red. I do not know how many bands total, you can win. The uniforms differ greatly from one city or village to another and from one state to another. Some departments use them, others not. If the city follows a military-style regulation, they can be worn on the neck or above the wrist, or sometimes just below the shoulder. Some use a "bar", a scratch certain angles, some a rafter or other insignia. Just check with your local fire department. They are located on the shoulders.Just as pilots, soldiers and police have theirs too. bottom on the left sleeve dress, similar to military use. I guess the same place as the military and police ...
