Sock Monkey Fabric

Hello everyone. I found the perfect gift for a friend of mine. A giant sock monkey! Brilliant, I know. But the cheapest I could find is $ 79. I really want to make one for him. Does anyone know how I can do that? I could get a book template, but I do not even know where to start to obtain tissue. please help! :) Thanks.

48 "is HUGE!
All the models I found are for small monkeys - because they use socks for them, not fabric.

I also found patterns of knitting and crochet Sock Monkeys, but nothing anywhere near as big as you want to do.

I'm curious to clean my 48 "ape. I know you can buy them, but as you said, they are expensive. I thought I saw a kit for one of the Vermont Country Store, but do not find it. Did you ever find a kit?

You can buy the son of a sock monkey knit or crochet. All the Rage, it seems, this fall.

The models I have seen are not 48 "though! You would have to scale up!
